The Village That Volunteers Built

WINDMILL

Windmill

The windmill, which sits behind the Halfway House and is operational, was moved to the museum grounds and restored in 1984. It came from the Oscar Strid farm at 75th Street and Naperville-Plainfield Road. The windmill is typical of the type that stood on farms along the Illinois prairie and powered the farmers' wells. The windmill's working pump, another donation, originally stood in front of the Pre-Emption House.
