PRESS RELEASE -- [Naper Settlement] April 10, 2008...

Wine dinner to benefit Naperville Heritage Society

Naperville - Sullivan's Steakhouse in downtown Naperville will host a Wine Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 28 that benefits the Naperville Heritage Society, administrator of Naper Settlement, a historic museum village. Tickets are $175 for the five-course dinner created especially for the fundraiser.

Sullivan's General Manager Troy Smith and Executive Chef Terrell Cole developed a sophisticated menu that is paired with wines exclusive to Sullivan's cellar.

The first course is shrimp, scallops and calamari tossed in an herbed marinade, served in a signature martini glass and paired with a Maso Canali Pinot Grigio. The second course is seared salmon wrapped in prosciutto di parma, topped with caramelized onions and served with a William Hill "Reserve" Chardonnay. The third course is mixed greens tossed in a raspberry vinaigrette, served with a MacMurray Ranch "Winemakers Collection" Pinot Noir. The fourth course of filet au poivre finished with a green peppercorn sauce will be served with a Louis Martini "Monti Rosso Vineyard" Cabernet. Dessert is a mocha pecan torte with a vanilla bean créme anglaise, served with a Louis Martini "Gnarly Vines" Zinfandel.

For the fifth year, Sullivan's Steakhouse is participating in one of Naper Settlement's signature events, the Taste of Naperville™ as part of Naper Days, held June 13-15 over Father's Day Weekend. The restaurant donates all their sales at the festival to Naper Settlement.

On a historical note, Sullivan's Steakhouse shares a common bond with Naper Settlement. The restaurant is located on the same spot where the original Pre-Emption House was constructed in 1834, which was the first and oldest hotel west of Chicago. In 1946, the building was razed to make way for the construction of a new building for the Cromer Motor Company. Today, a recreation of the Pre-Emption House serves as the Visitor Center for Naper Settlement.
