Your group will visit one of the historic buildings in our 19th century village, participate in a craft and experience 19th century life first-hand.

Birthday Parties (Ages 6-12)
Choose from Pioneer, Schoolhouse or Victorian Themes
Your special occasion will include a visit to a real log house, a one-room schoolhouse or the elegant Martin Mitchell Mansion. In addition, you and your guests will enjoy a craft and other old-fashioned activities. We take care of the invitations, cake, drinks, guest souvenir and a special gift for the Birthday Child.

Cost: $195 for up to 12 children, ages 6-12, $15 for each additional child

$50 (non-refundable)

Choose an Overnight or a Night Out

 

Overnights
Enjoy an evening centered around the theme of your choice. Experiencing 19th century life first-hand, your group will visit one of our historic buildings, make crafts, and enjoy an old-fashioned bedtime snack and a continental breakfast. Don't forget to pack your sleeping bag, pillow and toothbrush!

Offered Fridays only:
Check In: Friday 7:30 p.m.
Check Out: Saturday 8:30 a.m.

Cost: Youth/$35
Adult/$5 (after the youth minimum is reached)

Deposit Required: $150 (non-refundable)

Age Limit: 1st grade and older

Ratio: 1:4 adult/youth

Minimum: 20 participants or $700

Maximum: 25 participants

Pioneer
Visit an 1830s log house and
explore
the frontier with Captain Joseph Naper. Experience prairie travel and prairie life first-hand at Fort Payne. Enjoy games, crafts, and chores of a by-gone era.
 

Printing & Stamping
Bring a clean white pillowcase to make a great stamped autograph souvenir of your night at Naper Settlement. Visit our historic Print Shop and learn about printing and stamping the old-fashioned way.
 

Schoolhouse
Visit with 'Miss Crabapple' in our one-room schoolhouse. Make a wonderful craft and learn all about school as it was long ago.
 

Victorian Spa
Visit the Martin Mitchell Mansion and enjoy a night just for the girls! Learn about 19th century hairstyles, make-up and spa treatments. Make lotions and balms, mix bath salts and pamper yourself with spa beauty care. You won't want to miss this fun!

Night Out

Have an old-fashioned evening, but sleep in your own bed tonight! Gather your group for an evening centered around the theme of your choice. Experiencing 19th century life first-hand, your group will visit one of our historic buildings, make crafts and enjoy a tasty snack.

Available:  Fridays, 7-10 p.m.

Cost: Youth/$25
Adult/$3 (after the youth minimum is reached)

Deposit Required: $100 (non-refundable)

Age Limit: 1st grade and older

Ratio: 1:4 adult/youth

Minimum: 20 participants or $500

Maximum: 25 participants

 

Frontier Fun (1st grade and up)
Experience how the pioneers lived by visiting a log house and a Conestoga wagon. Do pioneer chores, activities and games - then enjoy a snack and make a pioneer craft.

Available: Year-round with reservation

Cost: Youth/$12:  Adult/$6 (after the youth minimum is reached)

Minimum: 12 youth or $144

Maximum: 24

Ratio: 1:4 adult/youth

Program Time: 90 minutes

Victorian Tea Party (All ages)
Learn about old-fashioned manners, have a charming Victorian tea party, enjoy a craft activity and visit the Martin Mitchell Mansion. Mother/daughter parties are available upon request.

Program Time: 90 minutes

Time Travel Trip (All grades)
Step back in time as you explore Naper Settlement. This self-guided tour allows you to follow the development of a typical northern Illinois town growing from a frontier outpost to a thriving agricultural and industrial center. Your trip includes demonstrations of 19th century trades and life-styles.

Available: April-October during museum hours:
10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 1-4 p.m. Sunday
No reservation required.

Cost: $5.50 per youth (ages 4-17); adults $8 each

Group rates: Call for groups of 20+ Pre-payment required for discount.

Recommended Touring Time: 3 hours minimum.

History Hunt (More >) (2nd grade and up)
Take a self-guided tour of our village to discover fun and interesting secrets inside and outside our buildings. Includes activity packet and Naper Settlement pencil.

Available:
April-October during museum hours:
10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 1-4 p.m. Sunday
No reservation required.

$3 per packet plus admission of $5.50 per youth (ages 4-17); adults $8 each
