Scouts on the WWII Home Front

All Boy and Girl Scout levels welcome!

In honor of Juliette Low's birthday, Naper Settlement will celebrate the history and spirit of the Girl and Boy Scouts of America with a look into the home front efforts of the Scouts during World War II. Join us for exciting activities and crafts, military vehicles, a public service opportunity, a visit from a Rockford Peach, and more.

Spring Fling

March 20, 2022, 1-4 PM  | $13 per Scout, $10 per adult | Level: All | Badge Earned: Fun Patch for Scouts

Welcome warmer weather and shake off cabin fever during Naper Settlement’s annual tribute to the changing seasons. Explore the museum’s historic buildings, talk with costumed interpreters, create a fun Spring craft, and learn how to build teamwork with your troops!

Year-Round On-Site Programs

All scout offerings require a minimum of 12 scouts and a maximum of 25 scouts per program to run. A maximum of 1 adult per 4 scouts is required. For questions or more information, please call us at 630.420.6010 or email grouptours@naperville.il.us.

Finding Your Way

1.5-hour program offered year-round | Level: Wolf Scouts |  Badge Earned: Wolf Scouts - Finding Your Way Badge
$200 (up to 15 Scouts + 4 Adults), $300 (16-20 Scouts + 5 Adults)

Develop mapping skills in a variety of ways, including creating a map, finding your place on a map, and studying a map of the world. Scouts will also learn to identify a compass rose and determine directions using a compass. With their new skills, Scouts will complete a scavenger hunt around Naper Settlement.

Tiger Tales

1.5-hour program offered year-round | Level: Tiger Scouts in 1st grade |  Badge Earned: Tiger Scouts - Tiger Tales Advent
$200 (up to 15 Scouts + 4 Adults), $300 (16-20 Scouts + 5 Adults) 

Learn the real history behind your favorite tall tale, experience life in a log house, and play old-fashioned games. This program is geared towards Tiger Scouts in 1st grade.

Earth Rocks!

1.5-hour program offered year-round | Level: Webelos Scouts |  Badge Earned: Webelos - Earth Rocks Adventure
$200 (up to 15 Scouts + 4 Adults), $300 (16-20 Scouts + 5 Adults)  

Webelos will explore geology by going on a rock hunt, and learn how human beings transform and use rocks and minerals.

Marble Madness

1.5-hour program offered year-round | Level: Bear Scouts |  Badge Earned: Bear Scout - Marble Madness Badge
$225 (up to 15 Scouts + 4 Adults), $330 (16-20 Scouts + 5 Adults)  

Get to know one of history's most popular games - marbles! Scouts will learn the history of marbles and how to play, including fun slang phrases. Scouts can also race their marbles and create a marble maze to take home. Each Scout will assemble their own marble set to use at their next den meeting.

Webelos in the Woods

1.5-hour program offered year-round | Level: Webelos Scouts |  Badge Earned: Webelos - Into the Woods Adventure
$225 (up to 15 Scouts + 4 Adults), $330 (16-20 Scouts + 5 Adults)  

Explore the green grounds of Naper Settlement! Learn all about the importance of trees and plants as well as how to protect them. Take home your own plant at the end of the program.

Forensics

2-hour program offered year-round | Level: Bear Scouts  in 3rd grade | Badge Earned: Bear Scouts - Forensics Adventure
$300 (up to 15 Scouts + 4 Adults), $425 (16-20 Scouts + 5 Adults)  

Come learn all about the science of crime-fighting. Take your own fingerprints, experiment with chromatography, and solve Naper Settlement mystery! This program is geared towards Bear Scouts in 3rd grade.

Super Science

2-hour program offered year-round | Level: Bear Scouts  in 3rd grade | Badge Earned: Bear Scouts - Super Science Adventure
$300 (up to 15 Scouts + 4 Adults), $425 (16-20 Scouts + 5 Adults)  

Bear Scouts will explore different principles in science including static electricity, density, and capillary action with fun, hands-on science experiments. This program is geared towards Bear Scouts in 3rd grade.
