The early history of Naperville is well documented and exhibited at Naper Settlement through the preservation of iconic artifacts and architecture – historical structures and buildings dating from the town’s settlement to the early 20th century. Here on our 13-acre campus —Illinois’ only nationally accredited outdoor history museum — the chapter of the 19th century has been written. It’s time to tell the stories of modern-day pioneers!
Through this campaign, Naper Settlement is bringing its mission forward to the next 50 years, curating our community in real time and allowing visitors to tailor their own experiences. Every visit will be rich in history and relevant with contemporary learning. With new exhibits, dynamic visitor experiences, and digital learning tools, Naper Settlement is showcasing the history makers and community builders of today. Let’s examine the 20th and 21st centuries, because the story of Naperville — like many American towns — does not end where one century concludes and the next begins
