One of the center's project objectives is to establish a cultural connection to Naperville's dynamic downtown and serves as a direct and indirect economic engine for the vibrancy of our city - advancing tourism, street-life and city beautification efforts. The center will also have an indoor gathering space available for events and social gatherings, as well as feature a dynamic educational space for our more than 35,000 school children, changing digital exhibits and content-driven programming. The new visitor center will be an investment in education and cultural tourism.
The budget for the Innovation Gateway is $3.7 million. The Naperville Heritage Society, administrator of Naper Settlement, has recently received a generous combined grant award and gifts totaling $1,000,000 in support of the museum's Heritage Gateway and Innovation Hall. The Naperville Heritage Society received a $500,000 grant from the Tellabs Foundation, and gifts totaling $500,000 from Christopher and Christine Birck and The Birck Family Fund at The Chicago Community Foundation.
The Innovation Gateway's construction is funding dependent.
